Who We Are

United Faculty of Florida (UFF) is the organization for higher education faculty and professionals in Florida.
Individually, in our profession, we can accomplish numerous things, such as completing advanced degrees, teaching courses, advising students, researching, and writing lectures, articles, and books; but together we can accomplish much greater things.
UFF is the higher education local of the Florida Education Association, which is affiliated with the National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, and AFL-CIO.
Our chapter’s mission include negotiating  and obtaining a Collective Bargaining Agreement that protects the rights, responsibilities, and opportunities for each FAMUFF faculty member, ensuring that the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, once established, are understood and followed, improving the rights, responsibilities, and opportunities for each FAMU faculty member…

Grievances

Weingarten rights guarantee an employee the right to Union representation during an investigatory interview. These rights, established by the Supreme Court, in 1975 in the case of J’. Weingarten Inc, must be claimed by the employee. The supervisor has no obligation to inform an employee that s/he is entitled to Union representation.
An investigatory interview is one in which a Supervisor questions an employee to obtain information which could be used as a basis for discipline or asks an employee to defend his/her conduct.
It is an obligation of the Union to educate bargaining unit employees
about their Weingarten rights BEFORE an occasion to use them arises. An
employee must state to the employer that he/she wants a Union
representative present; the employer has no obligation to ask: the
employee if she/he wants a representative.
